Jorge Luis Rodríguez Hosts Tour & Conversation with El Barrio Residents and Guests. Thursday, February 11, 2016, 2-5PM. 2180 Third Av/119th St., Room 120

Artist Jorge Luis Rodríguez (School of Visual Arts, BFA ’76, NYU, MA ’77) will meet with guests and residents of El Barrio, the neighborhood where one of his monumental sculptures, Growth, has been on display at Harlem Art Park since 1985 (1st Percent for Art project completed in NYC,  http://www.nytimes.com/1985/06/27/arts/in-east-harlem-first-percent-art.html). He will talk about the significance of public art and the scope of his art works and projects spanning over 40 years and on view in the current ARTCHIVES exhibition*. The event will begin at Centro Library and Archives located at the Hunter College Silberman School of Social Work campus, Room 120. FREE.

The ARTCHIVES exhibition continues through Friday, March 25, 2016 and is open for visitors Monday-Friday, 10AM-5PM. Classes and groups are welcome by appointment, 212-396-7874.
